First person view (FPV)FPV

Flying by the drone's live camera feed (goggles or screen). In the open category it is allowed only with an observer keeping direct sight of the drone.

FPV (First Person View) is a way of flying where the pilot controls the drone by its live camera feed — in FPV goggles or on a screen. It gives precise, dynamic control and is popular in drone racing and filming alike.

In the open category, FPV on its own breaks the VLOS requirement: a pilot looking into goggles cannot see the drone directly. FPV is therefore allowed only when a UA observer stands next to the pilot, keeping continuous direct visual contact with the aircraft and helping the pilot monitor the surrounding airspace.
