Frequently asked questions
Is dronelingo an official CAA Latvia course?
No. dronelingo is an independent prep tool for the A1/A3 exam. The official course and exam both live at e.caa.gov.lv. What we do is help you make sense of the material and rehearse until you can pass the real exam on the first try.
How much does it cost?
The first topic is free; full access is a one-time €19. The Air Safety topic — lessons and practice — is free, no account needed. A single €19 payment unlocks all 9 A1/A3 exam topics, the A2 meteorology bonus, every practice drill, and unlimited mock exams. No subscription, no expiry. Payment is currently by bank transfer against an emailed invoice; access is activated within one business day of the payment arriving.
Is the content up to date?
Everything is grounded in Reg (EU) 2019/947 (consolidated 2022-04-04), Reg (EU) 2019/945 and the EASA Easy Access Rules for UAS (2024-07). The Latvia-specific details come from the public CAA Latvia drone site, droni.caa.gov.lv, and were last reviewed on 2026-05-08. Every lesson and exam question cites the official source it draws on.
Why four languages (lv / en / ru / uk)?
Latvia's drone community speaks more than one language. The official exam is in Latvian only, but prep materials in other languages help you build intuition before you face the official wording.
Do I need an account?
Not for studying. Your practice history stays in your own browser on this device. When you buy full access we ask for an email address so we can send your invoice and activation link — and restore your access on /restore if you ever switch devices.
What happens after I pass?
CAA Latvia automatically issues an A1/A3 knowledge certificate PDF. It is valid for 5 years and recognised across the EU. From then on you may fly in the Open category's A1 and A3 sub-categories under the standard rules.
Do I have to register if my drone weighs less than 250 g?
If it has a photo or video camera, yes — register as a UAS operator. Without a camera, no. See the registration guide.
Does the certificate work in other EU countries?
Yes, the A1/A3 certificate is recognised across the EU. Just bear in mind that when you fly in another EU country, you still have to respect that country's geographical zones and local rules.
My drone is old and has no C-class marking — what now?
Transitional rules slot legacy drones in by mass: under 250 g flies as C0 (A1), and under 25 kg flies as C3 (A3).
What about occurrence reporting?
If something serious happens (an injury, or a near-miss with a manned aircraft), you must report it within 72 hours at e.caa.gov.lv/incidents. Our Security topic covers the full picture.
