BGKIS is Latvia's state system for notifying UAS flights, accessed through the e.caa.gov.lv portal. Since 1 January 2025, a pilot who wants to fly in a restricted UAS geographical zone must submit a flight application in BGKIS and receive approval before the flight — only then may the drone take off.
A key distinction: a submitted application is not yet an approval. Until the answer arrives, flying in the zone is not allowed. A BGKIS approval also grants airspace access only — it gives no right to film people or objects; that is governed by other rules.
