Geo-awareness is a built-in drone function that compares the flight location against airspace limitations — the geographical zones — and detects a potential breach. When the aircraft approaches a restricted zone, the system alerts the pilot so they have time to react and adjust the flight.
The function is required equipment on class C1, C2 and C3 drones. Keep in mind it is only an aid: the pilot remains responsible for keeping the zone data on the device up to date and for checking the current restrictions before every flight.
