Aircraft attitude

The aircraft's orientation in space — which way it points and how it is tilted. VLOS requires seeing the drone's attitude unaided; a dot in the sky is not enough.

In aviation, "attitude" is the aircraft's orientation in space: which way it is pointing and how it is tilted. It has nothing to do with mood — in the aviation context it is a purely technical concept.

For drone pilots this matters legally: visual line of sight (VLOS) means, by law, being able to see both the drone's attitude and its direction of flight with the unaided eye. If the drone is so far away that it looks like a mere dot in the sky, the VLOS requirement is no longer met.
