Firmware is the built-in software of the drone, the controller and the battery that controls how they work. Safety functions depend on it too — the geofence, altitude limits, Remote ID.
Update firmware ONLY through the official manufacturer channel: third-party or modified firmware can silently disable safety features and void your legal standing. Checking firmware versions is part of the pre-flight check.
